Debate Competition: Rules & Regulations

Eligibility:

  • The competition is open to students from 5th to 10th grade.

  • Participants will be grouped into two categories:

    • Group A: 5th to 7th Grade

    • Group B: 8th to 10th Grade

  • Participants should be a registered student of a registered school.

  • Participants or their parents/guardians must have an active FaceBook account.

How To Participate:

It's a simple four-step flow

  • Step 1 - Select any one topic of your choice from the list given below and shoot a 2-3 minute video presenting their debate on the chosen topic.

  • Step 2 - Post it on FaceBook with our tags and mentions.

  • Step 3 - Submit the link of your video post by clicking the Submit Your Entry button on this page, then fill out the form, pay the fees and submit the form.

  • Step 4 - Once shortlisted, be present at our mega offline event for the final round to win exciting prizes & mega scholarships.


  • Follow the Participation Flow And Conditions given below strictly for seamless participation and to avoid disqualification.

Participation Flow & Conditions:

  • Participants from any group must choose a debate topic from this list.

    1. Sports should not be just an extracurricular activity

    2. Skill learning is more necessary than formal education

    3. Religion does no good to a human being's life

    4. Everyone should learn maths till the 10th class

    5. Social media is dangerous

    6. AYUSH pathy systems are just a fraud

    7. India will be a developed country by 2047

  • Participants should research the topic, prepare logical arguments, and shoot a 2-3 minute video presenting their position on the subject.

  • Ensure the video is clear and has good audio and visual quality.

  • The logo of our lead sponsor must be clearly visible in the background throughout the video. This logo should be printed, displayed, or included in editing the reel but should be prominently visible to ensure it's easily recognizable. To download the logo of our lead sponsors, CLICK HERE.

  • Round 1: Online video submission, the video must be posted on Facebook, following the specific submission guidelines listed below.

  • The post should tag our lead sponsor's official FB page accounts: @vrpkota and @VyasEdification.

  • Participants must also use the sponsor's and competition hashtags - #vrpkota, #vyasedification & #tito in their posts.

    NOTE: It is mandatory to include mentions @vrpkota, @VyasEdification and hashtags #vrpkota, #vyasedification & #tito to ensure their entry is considered.

  • Then Participants must submit the link to their FB posts through a Submit Your Entry form, along with their name, grade, school details etc. by clicking the orange colour button on this page.

  • Round 2 (Offline): Shortlisted participants from the online round will be invited to compete in the offline rounds. Finalists will participate in an offline debate at our lead sponsor's space VRP campus, Kota, for the top prizes.

  • Only selected participants from the online video round will proceed to the offline competition.

  • The participants can choose either English or Hindi as the language to create a reel of the explanation video.

Important Dates:

  • Online Video Submission Deadline: 08 November 2024

  • Announcement of Shortlisted Participants: 01 December 2024

  • Offline Debate Competition (Finals) at VRP Campus, Kota: 26 December 2024

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Research & Logical Analysis: Depth of understanding and quality of the argument.

  • Language & Command: Fluency, clarity, and vocabulary.

  • Speaking Skills: Confidence, articulation, and tone.

  • Engagement: Effective use of logic, rebuttals, and presentation skills.

  • Video Presentation: Overall quality and adherence to submission guidelines, including sponsor logo and collaboration requirements.

  • The evaluation of social media posts will also include the Social Media Engagement marks (Msme) for Facebook and will depend on comments (C), likes (L) and shares (S).

    • Msme = ( C + L/50 + S/5 )

Participation Fee:

  • A non-refundable nominal participation fee of INR 20/- is to be paid for each entry.

  • Please ensure that you have posted the VIDEO on Facebook as per the contest format before filling out the entry submission form.

Prizes and Recognition:

  • Prizes will be awarded separately for each group (Group A and Group B).

  • Gold Medal: INR 5,500 cash prize + Trophy + Certificate of Achievement.

  • Silver Medal: INR 2,500 cash prize + Medal + Certificate of Achievement.

  • Bronze Medal: INR 1,100 cash prize + Medal + Certificate of Achievement.

  • All participants will receive an e-certificate of participation.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Post the video on your own or your parent's Facebook account with the required mentions/collaborations and hashtags.

  • Ensure the sponsor’s logo is visible/displayed in the video, all the collaborations are done & all the hashtags are placed in captions for consideration of the entry.

  • Submit the Facebook video link and image post link via the Submit Your Entry button provided on this page.

  • Include your name, grade, and other school details in the form.

General Guidelines:

  • The video must be original and prepared by the participant without external help or assistance.

  • The content of the debate must be original and created by the participants themselves. Any form of plagiarism will lead to disqualification.

  • Offensive or inappropriate content will not be tolerated and will result in disqualification.

  • Participants must ensure a clear, concise verbal presentation in the video.

  • Submissions failing to include the sponsor logo, proper collaborations, or hashtags will not be considered.

  • Participants advancing to the offline round will receive further instructions via email/WhatsApp.

  • The organizers reserve the right to modify rules and guidelines if necessary. Any changes will be communicated to participants.

  • If a participant submits multiple entries, then only the best entry will be considered from all the submitted entries.

  • Late submissions will not be accepted.

  • The organizers reserve the right to modify or cancel the competition at any time.

  • By participating in the competition, participants agree to these rules and regulations and the terms and conditions.

  • Mere participating in this event doesn't give you any right to claim anything from organisers or sponsors.
