The Pool Duel (8-Ball) Competition: Rules and Regulations
Welcome to the Pool (8-Ball) Competition! This event is designed to bring out the competitive spirit and fun of playing pool. With simple rules and a friendly atmosphere, this competition is perfect for all skill levels. Please carefully read the following rules and regulations to ensure smooth and successful participation.
Eligibility:
The competition is open to students from 5th to 10th grade.
Participants will be grouped into two categories:
Group A: 5th to 7th Grade
Group B: 8th to 10th Grade
Participants should be a registered student of a registered school.
Important Dates:
The competition will take place in January Last Week. Apply before 01 January 2025.
The Date will be announced in December once your school's internal Pool (Billiards) tournament is finalised.
Participants should arrive at the venue by 9:00 am on the date mentioned above for registration and briefing.
Competition Format:
The game will be played using a simplified version of 8-ball pool rules to accommodate a smaller table.
Matches will be played in a knockout format, where winners advance to the next round.
Each match will be a best-of-three games format.
In the event of any dispute, draw or any other circumstances the decision of jury and the organisers will be final.
Game Rules:
The game is played with a standard set of 16 balls (1 cue ball and 15 object balls: 7 solid, 7 stripes, and the 8-ball).
Players must call their shots (specify the ball and the pocket) before making a shot.
The player who legally pockets the 8-ball after pocketing all their group of balls (solid or striped) wins the game.
Fouls include hitting the cue ball off the table, not hitting any ball, and pocketing the 8-ball before all of the player’s balls are pocketed.
If any other rule or regulation needs to be included, that may be done at the time of games with the mutual consent of both the players, jury and the organisers.
Submission and Scoring:
Players will sign the report of the results of each game to the competition referee immediately after their match.
Winners will proceed to the next round, while those who lose will be eliminated from the competition.
Prizes and Recognition:
Prizes will be awarded separately for each group (Group A and Group B).
Gold Medal: INR 11,000 cash prize + Trophy + Certificate of Achievement.
Silver Medal: INR 5,100 cash prize + Medal + Certificate of Achievement.
Bronze Medal: INR 2,100 cash prize + Medal + Certificate of Achievement.
All participants will receive an appreciation e-certificate for their involvement.
General Guidelines:
Participants must maintain silence during their games and respect the concentration of others.
Any form of cheating will result in immediate disqualification.
Participants are encouraged to be good sports and shake hands before and after each game.
The organizers reserve the right to modify the rules and regulations if necessary. Participants will be notified of any changes.
