Indian Classical Instrumental Music Competition: Rules and Regulations
Eligibility:
The competition is open to students from 5th to 10th grade.
Participants will be grouped into two categories:
Group A: 5th to 7th Grade
Group B: 8th to 10th Grade
Participants should be a registered student of a registered school.
Participants or their parents/guardians must have an active FaceBook account.
How To Participate:
It's a simple four-step flow in each round
(There will be 3 rounds - refer to Participation Flow & Conditions)
Step 1 - Select a classical instrument of your choice, perform and shoot the instrumental music video of 2-5 minutes as mentioned below in the Participation flow and conditions.
Step 2 - Post the created Video on Facebook with our tags and mentions.
Step 3 - Submit the link of your VIDEO, by clicking the Submit Your Entry button on this page, then fill out the form, pay the fees and submit the form.
Step 4 - Once shortlisted after ROUND 2, be present at our mega offline event for the finale round to win exciting prizes & mega scholarships.

Participation Flow & Conditions:
There will be two online and one final offline round. Participants need to go through 3 Rounds to win the exciting prizes
Round 1: Online - First Video posting on Facebook - Where participants perform Indian classical Instrumental Music and shoot a video before the deadline of the first round (Check Important Dates below).
Round 2: Online - Second Video posting on Facebook - Where participants perform Indian classical Instrumental Music and shoot a video before the deadline of the second round (Check Important Dates below).
Creating the VIDEO: The video must be between 2-5 minutes.
Ensure the VIDEO is clear and has good audio and visual quality.
The logo of our lead sponsor must be clearly visible in the background throughout the video. This logo should be printed, displayed, or included in editing the reel but should be prominently visible to ensure it's easily recognizable. To download the logo of our lead sponsors, CLICK HERE.
Post on Facebook:
Mention/Collaborate with @vrpkota and @VyasEdification.
Use hashtags #vrpkota, #vyasedification, and #tito in the caption.
Ensure the sponsor's logo is visible in the video.
Final Round: Finalists will participate in an offline stage round at the VRP campus, Kota, for the top prizes.
Music Piece/Song Selection: Participants can choose any song but it should be from the INDIAN CLASSICAL genre only.
The music piece of the first two online rounds must be different.
For the Final Round participants can perform any music piece/song from their first two online performances or can choose a third music piece/song also.
Genre: Music Piece/Song must be only from INDIAN CLASSICAL.
The video must be posted on Facebook, following the specific submission guidelines listed below.
Only selected participants from the online Round 2 will proceed to the offline competition.
Important Dates:
Round 1 - Online Video Submission Deadline: 08 December 2024
Round 2 - Online Video Submission Deadline: 08 January 2025
Announcement of Shortlisted Participants: 09 January 2025
Offline Singing Competition (Finals) at VRP Campus, Kota: 29 January 2025
Evaluation Criteria:
Entries of both the online round and the final round will be judged based on the following:-
Adherence to Raga - Accuracy and mood of the raga.
Tuning & Tonal Quality - Precision in tuning and sound clarity.
Rhythm (Tala) Accuracy - Synchronization with rhythm.
Technical Mastery - Control and skill on the instrument.
Improvisation - Creativity and clarity in alap, jor, jhala, taans.
Expression (Bhava) - Emotional depth and engagement.
Coordination with Accompanists - Synchronization with other musicians.
Dynamics & Variation - Use of dynamics and variation in tempo and volume.
Stage Presence - Confidence and presentation.
Overall Impact - General impression and performance quality.
The first two online rounds will also include the Social media engagement marks (Msme) for Facebook will depend on comments (C), likes (L) and shares (S).

Participation Fee:
A nominal fee of INR 20 is required per entry.
The payment will be processed in continuation with the entry submission form Form.
Please ensure that you have posted the VIDEO on Facebook as per the contest format before filling out the entry submission form.
Prizes and Recognition:
Prizes will be awarded separately for each group (Group A and Group B).
Gold Medal: INR 11,000 cash prize + Trophy + Certificate of Achievement.
Silver Medal: INR 5,100 cash prize + Medal + Certificate of Achievement.
Bronze Medal: INR 2,100 cash prize + Medal + Certificate of Achievement.
Winners will also get a chance to get featured in their first original music video, produced by our lead sponsor.
All participants will receive an e-certificate of participation.
Submission Guidelines:
Post the video on your own or your parent's Facebook account with the required mentions/collaborations and hashtags.
Ensure the sponsor’s logo is displayed, all the collaborations are done & all the hashtags are placed in captions for consideration of the entry.
Submit the Facebook post link and video file via the Submit Your Entry button provided on this page.
Include your name, grade, and other school details in the form.
General Guidelines:
Offensive or inappropriate content will not be tolerated and will result in disqualification.
The organizers reserve the right to modify the rules and regulations if necessary. Participants will be notified of any changes.
Dos:
The video must be created by the participants themselves.
The use of pre-recorded audio samples or any form of digital enhancement is not allowed.
The music content played should be played by the performer only.
Follow all submission guidelines and include required collaborations and hashtags.
Display the sponsor’s logo clearly.
Don’ts:
Do not use offensive, vulgar, or inappropriate content.
Avoid any content that compromises safety or security.
Do not include any content that violates ethical standards or human dignity.
If a participant submits multiple entries, then only the best entry will be considered from all the submitted entries.
Late submissions will not be accepted.
The organizers reserve the right to modify or cancel the competition at any time.
By participating in the competition, participants agree to these rules and regulations and the terms and conditions.
Mere participating in this event doesn't give you any right to claim anything from organizers or sponsors.

Guidelines for a Good Indian Classical Instrumental Performance
Adherence to Raga:
Stay true to the raga, maintaining its structure and mood.
Avoid playing notes (swara) that are not allowed within the raga, and keep the integrity of its time or mood association.
Tuning and Tonal Quality:
Ensure your instrument is perfectly tuned, especially to the standard pitch (shruti) or the tanpura.
Maintain consistent tonal quality and clarity throughout the performance.
Rhythm (Tala):
Accurately follow the tala, whether playing solo or with an accompanist.
Show mastery over the rhythmic cycle (tala) and transitions between different tempos (vilambit, madhya, and drut laya).
Maintain a smooth flow and strong sense of timing.
Technical Mastery:
Demonstrate control over the instrument, showcasing the ability to play intricate passages with clarity.
Display a variety of techniques specific to the instrument (e.g., meend, gamak, chikari for sitar, or tanpura playing for string instruments).
Improvisation (Alaap, Jor, Jhala, Taans):
Show proficiency in improvisation, especially during alap, jor, and jhala sections.
Ensure that improvisation reflects the essence of the raga while maintaining structure and flow.
Demonstrate clarity and speed in playing fast taans (especially in string and wind instruments).
Expression (Bhava):
Convey the mood and emotion of the raga through your playing.
Express both technical precision and emotive depth, drawing the listener into the performance.
Coordination with Accompanists:
In performances with tabla or other instrumental accompaniments, maintain perfect synchronization.
Communicate musically with accompanists, especially during improvisational passages.
Dynamics and Variation:
Introduce dynamic variations (soft and loud passages) to enhance the expressive quality of the performance.
Use tempo, volume, and style changes to create a rich and engaging performance.
Stage Presence:
Display confidence and control while performing.
Engage the audience with focused body language, ensuring that your movements are in harmony with the music.
Rehearsal and Discipline:
Regular practice to master both the technical and emotive aspects of the instrument is essential.
Develop a deep understanding of ragas, talas, and compositions through disciplined practice.
